Amethyst

Amethyst is derived from the Greek word amethustos (ἀμέθυστος), meaning "without being drunk". The Greeks believed that this stone kept them from getting drunk; the stone has an enlightening and sobering effect. The most beautiful amethysts are found in Uruguay, Brazil and South Africa.
Words that are often associated with amethyst are: clarification, calmness, inner peace, good night's sleep, balance, inventiveness, visualization, concentration, intuition and spirituality.

Amethyst has a protective and purifying effect.
